DBT-Informed Eating Disorder Therapy for College & Young Adult Women
Work with Danielle Gofman, LPC | Virtual Therapy in Connecticut & Virginia
If you are a college student or young adult woman who looks high-functioning on the outside but feels stuck in cycles of food, body image, or emotional overwhelm, you are not alone. Many of Danielle’s clients come to therapy feeling driven, capable, and self-aware — yet exhausted by the constant mental effort of trying to “get it right.”
Danielle offers DBT-informed eating disorder therapy designed to help you build practical skills for managing emotions, self-criticism, and urges, while also exploring the deeper patterns that shape your relationship with food, your body, and yourself. Her approach is both compassionate and structured, so change feels supported, sustainable, and grounded in what truly matters to you.

You Might Be Here Because…
You may recognize yourself in one or more of these experiences:
You can’t stop thinking about food, your body, or whether you are “doing recovery right”
You feel motivated and capable, but emotionally overwhelmed or stuck
You know what should help, but struggle to follow through consistently
You don’t feel “sick enough” to need therapy — but you don’t feel okay either
These patterns are not signs of failure. They are often ways your system has learned to cope with pressure, perfectionism, and emotional intensity. Therapy is a space to understand those patterns — and learn new, healthier ways to meet the same needs.
What Makes Danielle’s Approach Different
Danielle specializes in working with high-achieving, perfectionistic young women navigating eating disorders, disordered eating, and emotional stress during college and early adulthood.
Her work blends evidence-based, skills-focused therapy with values-centered exploration. This means you will not only learn tools for managing urges, anxiety, and self-criticism — you will also explore what drives those patterns and how to build a relationship with yourself that feels more flexible, authentic, and sustainable.
Clients often describe Danielle as warm, deeply attentive, and gently challenging — someone who creates a sense of safety while also helping them move beyond familiar, unhelpful cycles.
What Working Together Looks Like
Sessions with Danielle are collaborative and practical. Depending on your goals, your work may include:
Learning DBT skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindful awareness, and interpersonal effectiveness
Identifying thought patterns that fuel perfectionism, anxiety, or rigid rules around food and self-worth
Gradually reducing avoidance and fear-based behaviors through gentle, supportive exposure
Reconnecting with your values so change is guided by meaning, not pressure or fear
This is therapy designed to support both insight and action — helping you make changes that show up in daily life, not just in session.
